With roots in Scandinavian divination, traditional European witchcraft, and magical herbalism, in this deck the creators have paired each rune of the Elder Futhark with a plant according to their shared energetic correspondences. For example, Thurisaz is combined with the thorny blackberry in a card of defense. Ansuz and yarrow are brought together in the communication card. Hagalaz and deadly nightshade are combined to convey storms and chaos. Each card is illustrated to reflect 16th-century engravings and ancient grimoires.
